2010 LBBA BP Visa Card Fundraiser

With another great year underway, we would like to share an exciting new fundraising program with you and ask for your support.  Did you know that all BP/ampm locations in the Atlanta metro area are locally owned and operated?  This year, we have partnered with our local BP/ampm at 2951 Shallowford Rd (in front of Home Depot) which is locally owned by Shawn Houghton and Mark Murgash.  In addition to supporting the LBBA as a Corporate Sponsor at the Maroon Level, Shawn and Mark have offered us an additional opportunity to raise up to $6,000 or more by simply applying for and using their BP Chase Visa card.More Info about info:

Web Site Enhancements Underway

Over the next few weeks you may notice some changes to the LBBA.org Web Site. We are in the process of making some enhancements which should make it easier to find articles on the website and make the navagation of the site simpler.

You will notice today that the Horizontal Main Menu has been change somewhat.

  1. The "Photo Gallery" has now become "Gallery". We will soon start to offer more than just photos in the Gallery. It is the same Gallery with all of your favorite photos, but we will soon include more than just photos.
  2. The "Newsletter" menu item has moved to "Members" and it will now only be the current LBBA Newsletter.
  3. The "News" menu item has been revisied to include a link to the Band News & Updates Page along with your Announcements which have been clearly identified now under thier own menu item in the News main menu link.
  4. LMI has now been relocated under the main menu item of "Fundraising". This should make it easier to find. More changes are coming on the LMI Pages.

You will also start to notice that we will be doing away with some of the older pages which we feel are no longer serving a usefull service to the LBBA and new fresh pages will soon start to appear which we hope will enhance your vists to the LBBA website.

Feel free to send the Webmaster an email if you run into problems or just have a frustration with the website and want to vent. Email the Webmaster

2010 Band Directory Has Been Distributed

Band directories were handed out to Band students the week of August 16. Each student was given a directory by their section leader and the directories have stickers on the back cover with the student's name, graduation year and section. If your student did not bring one home, ask them where it is! We did not print any extra to save on costs for the band. All information in the directory is available online (and is password protected - password is in the directory) - online information is as up-to-date as we can get it.

Ways and Means Information

Providing support for an organization the size of the Lassiter Band is no simple task. The program includes marching band, 4 concert bands, color guard and winter guard with over 250 students participating year round, but it draws little financial support from the school or the county.

If each parent were asked to pay an annual fee, many students would not have the opportunity to participate. To help offset the expense of providing the best possible educational opportunities, the LBBA sponsors a variety of fund raising activities throughout the year. The Ways & Means Committee is charged with coordinating these activities. Your participation, even if not serving as an event chair, is crucial for the various activities throughout the year.

Getting involved from the start is your best opportunity to meet other parents, learn about the program, and experience the excellence of the Lassiter Band.

.  Contact Chuck & Barbara Papandrea at ways-means@lbba.org for more information.

Having Trouble Receiving LBBA Emails

The LBBA Co-Presidents normally send out one or two weekly emails to all Active Members and Band Students with important news and updates about the Band and LBBA for that week. Although, Membership has gone to great lengths to get all Active LBBA Members and Students email addresses in our Membership Database correctly we may have missed yours. Your email address may have also been recently changed. If you are not receiving the weekly emails or your email has changed since Registration please send the Membership Committee Mary Berg an email with the correct email address, your Students full name so we can find you in the Membership database and she will be glad to change or add it to the database. We can accommodate a personal email and a work email address now in our database.

If you are not receiving emails and you think we have the correct email address in the database (to view your information check the online Band Directory under Members, you will need Members Access to view the directory) please contact the Webmaster Steve Morton for assistance and some trouble shooting tips. Please include the type of PC/Mac, OS, and email Client you are using. He will be glad to assist you. Also, check your spam / junk email folders as it may be going there.
